Narsingh
Awatar after completing his B. Com and LL. B. from the University
of Calcutta, qualified as a Chartered Accountant in early 1962
and continues to be in practice since then.
In
1962, he joined M/s S. Vaidyanath Aiyar & Co., a well-known
firm of Chartered Accountants as a paid Chartered Accountant.
In the year 1965, he was elevated to the position of a partner.
In
the year 1970, the firm’s name was changed from M/s S. Vaidyanath
Aiyar & Co. to M/s Thakur, Vaidyanath Aiyar & Co. He continued
to be a partner in M/s Thakur Viadyanath Aiyar & Co. until
November 1990 and thereafter joined M/s Awatar & Co., Chartered
Accountants as a senior partner.
He
has the rich experience of conducting, supervising and finalising
the audits of Statutory Corporations, Public Sector Undertakings,
Public Limited Companies, Private Companies, Multi State Cooperative
Societies, Insurance Companies, Banks and other entities. He has
also specialised in taxation laws.
In
the year 1982, he was elected to the Northern India Regional Council
of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for a three-year
term and served as its Chairman during the year 1982-83. During
his tenure on the Northern India Regional Council of the Institute
of Chartered Accountants of India, he had the opportunity to organise
a very successful Regional Conference, chaired various seminars
and conferences and also participated as a speaker on various
subjects. He also participated in the CAPA conferences twice.
He
has also been a nominee director on behalf of the IFCI Ltd., IDBI
and ICICI Ltd. as well as an independent professional director
and member of audit sub-committees of directors on various companies
engaged in the manufacture of Tyres, Cement, Paper, Sugar, Vegetable
Oils, Steel and Steel Products, Sponge Iron, Textile Yarn, Industrial
Abrasives, Computers, Aluminum Sheets etc. and has thus acquired
valuable experience in these areas.
He
has also worked on World Bank assignments in the States of Punjab
and Rajasthan in connection with streamlining the accounting systems
of Water and Sewerage Boards of these States.
He
has widely travelled throughout the length and breadth of India
and also the countries in the Far East like Japan, Philippines,
Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Nepal.
